Baywing is a horse whose career nearly ended before it ever began. He was born with a rare and life-threatening condition that required surgery to correct. After the surgery, he was given only a 50% chance of survival. However, he defied the odds and went on to become a successful racehorse, winning six of his 21 starts, including last year's Eider and the Grade 2 Towton Novices' Chase at Wetherby.
Baywing's trainer, Nicky Richards, said: "He's a very special horse. He's overcome so much to get to where he is today. He's a fighter, and he never gives up."
Baywing's jockey, Ryan Day, said: "He's a pleasure to ride. He's got a great attitude and he's always trying his best. He's a real trier."
Baywing is a testament to the power of perseverance and never giving up on your dreams. He is an inspiration to us all.
