Violent Mile-Wide Tornado Captured Close Up

Multiple Tornadoes Intercepted in Oklahoma

Massive Wedge Tornado Wreaks Havoc

On May 9th, 2016, Oklahoma witnessed the formation of multiple tornadoes, including a devastating mile-wide wedge tornado that left a trail of destruction near Sulphur. As an experienced storm chaser, I had the rare opportunity to intercept and document this colossal weather event.

The first tornado emerged approximately 4 miles northeast of Sulphur in Murray County, traveling north-northwest for 12 miles before dissipating 5 miles south of Stratford. However, the most captivating tornado was the massive wedge tornado that formed shortly after. Its immense size and power were undeniable, with its width exceeding a mile at certain points.

The tornado's destructive force was rated as EF3, causing significant damage to structures and vegetation in its path. Its intense rotation, captured in vivid videos and photographs, showcased the sheer power of nature. Fortunately, the storm system moved away from densely populated areas, preventing any reported injuries or fatalities.

As of the time of writing, there are no active tornado warnings in Oklahoma. However, it is crucial to remain vigilant during severe weather events and monitor official weather reports for the latest updates and safety precautions.
